A personal journey running thirteen Half Marathons in 2013. The training, the races, the suffering and the joy.

About The Runner

I am a father, a husband, a pilot and a runner. I started my running journey 3 years ago when my wife suckered me into doing a 5K for charity. I was unprepared physically and sore for days after. But somewhere deep down I got the bug. I completed several 5Ks that fall and felt my strength and endurance and excitement build with each race.

This year I decided to do a project - to run thirteen half marathons (13.1 miles) in 2013. This blog is about my journey. Thank you for stopping by!

Mission Statement
When George Mallory was asked the question, Why do you want to climb Mt. Everest? He replied: "Because it is there." In that spirit I will attempt a goal of my own. I plan on running 13 half marathon races this year. Why thirteen? Well, you all know a half marathon is 13.1 miles. It's the beginning of 2013, so why not make it thirteen races? You have to admit, it's got a certain ring to it: 13 13s in '13.
Need further explanation?

Because it is there.
