Race Review: Last Chance for Boston

This race was organized by Premier Sports and hosted by the city of Dublin, OH. They all did a fine job and the staff was friendly. The volunteers were great, although it's hard to find any complaints about a volunteer who gives up their Sunday morning to stand in the cold, hand out water, and constantly yell 'whoo-hoo!' We should all volunteer at one race this year.

Five different distances were offered at this event and it was held at an office/hotel park on a one mile loop of road that was flat as a pancake. The city did a great job of keeping traffic at bay and the roads luckily were in good condition - it is February after all. My guess is that roughly three hundred participants ran this year.

There are several benefits of a course like this. It takes less staff and resources to man and secure the track; one aid station magically turns into 13 or 26 depending on your pleasure; and there is no chance of getting lost since you finish exactly where you started! Another benefit is that you can see splits for every mile to see exactly where you really started to slow down.

As a disclaimer I will of course be posting pictures of myself in action at theses races. Please keep in mind that there is a very small percentage of the population that actually looks cool while they are running. They get paid a lot of money to do it.
